Maeko - our special needs dog's Description.

Maeko came to us when she was 5 weeks old with her sister. They were both desexed micro-chipped and immunised. They went to puppy pre-school together and then her sister was adopted. We had noticed that Maeko had a slight lean to one side and walked like a crab but she had a very loving personality so at 3 months had her x-rayed to see what was happening, it was either going to be spinal or something to do with her hips. The result was hip displeasure. There was a chance with the correct excercise etc. that it might right itself or get alot better than it was. During the last 12 months she has been swimming in the salt water heated pool, taken on restricted walks, gone to training, had countless massage sessions and given t-touch therapy. She has recently had another xray and the hip displeasure is still present but there is no arthritic degeneration present. HappyPaws Haven can't afford to give her the operation she needs to live a fullfilled happy pain free life but we still want to give her the opportunity to live. She is not in pain currently although as winter comes on this may change, she gets a bit stiff when lying in the same spot for any period of time. She needs to loose 5-10kgs in weight but in every other respect she is a beautiful teenage Belgian Shepherd Groenendael. She loves to have a chat, some thinks she growls but really she smiles and bears her teeth. She can be protective of her owner, she gets on with other dogs and cats. She prances like a lady typical of a belgian teenage girl. Like all teenagers she can be naughty and can help her self to things she should not have. Don't leave any food arround! In all other respects she is a beautiful girl with loads of personality plus and is always happy to see you and to meet your friends.
